Practice Profile:
Colac
Colac is situated 150km southwest of Melbourne on the Princes Highway and has a population of approximately 11000. There is a hinterland population of an additional 15000 people. At the eastern edge of the world's third largest volcanic plain, surrounded by a landscape of lakes and volcanic craters, this Western District city is the centre of one of Australia's richest farming areas.
The city is on the shore of Lake Colac, one of more than 50 freshwater and saltwater lakes in the area. Motorists can drive around the Botanic Gardens located on the banks of the lake which is the largest natural freshwater lake in the State and popular for water sports.

In Our Clinic Rooms:
We are a proud to be a private general practice providing quality medical services to our patients. We have private fees however, pensioners who hold a current Government Pension Card can be bulk billed for routine consultations in business hours. All services provided after hours to any patient will attract a Private Fee. A Practice Manager, Practice Nurses and Trained Receptionists support the Doctors. The Practice operates from a large modern purpose built facility. There are 10 consulting rooms in the main building and a further 3 consulting rooms in an adjoining facility. All rooms are fitted out with the same fittings and have a networked computer system. We have a large treatment area with one hospital beds, where acute patients are triaged by our full time practice nurse. Diagnostic equipment includes an ECG machine, spirometry, cautery equipment, liquid nitrogen, urinalysis and cardio scan. There is also a fully equipped emergency trolley. We have a separate room set up like a mini theatre suite for minor procedures. All our medical records are electronic medical records. Medical Director software is used.
We have a computerised appointment billing system using Mediflex software, and patients are able to pay at the time of consultation. We have electronic pathology, radiology and cytology results that are accessible from all computers in the network.
Hours of Operation (Rosters):
Monday to Friday 8.45am - 5.30pm and Saturday 8.45am - 12 noon. There is always 24-hour telephone contact with a doctor from our practice. For urgent matters over the weekend (after noon on Saturday) please attend the Accident & Emergency Department of Colac Area Health. The nursing staff will triage your needs and if necessary our on call doctor will be called to attend.

We are a long established family general practice catering to the medical needs of all ages.

Please go to the Accident and Emergency Department of Colac Area Health and one of our Doctors will be called to attend.
Specialists:
We have visiting specialists who consult our patients from our rooms on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis. Specialities include cardiology, urology, orthopaedic, paediatrics, Vascular Surgeon, Sleep Physician, Podiatrist, Echo Cardiogram service and an in house Pharmacist providing home medicine reviews.
Parking:
There is a reasonable amount of parking outside the clinic with 2 disabled bays just inside the driveway entrance.
Fees:
Our fees are calculated to provide the best value service for all our patients and to enable us to continually improve our facilities and services to you in the form of up-to-date medical practice, technologies, and treatment. We do appreciate payment at the time of consultation. You may pay by cash, cheque, credit card or EFTPOS.

MB, BS, FRACGP, DRANZCOG, ACCAM, FCRRM Trained in Melbourne and has been in the practice for almost 30 years. Dr Connor does general consulting, spinal manipulation, Aviation, Scuba and Diving Medicals, gives anaesthetics and delivers babies. Mike is also an AMA Branch Council representative.
Other interests include fast cars/bikes and his leisure activities include flying his self-built plane, cycling and cooking.

MB, BS, DA, DRACOG, FACRRM Born and trained in Melbourne with experience in Britain and Canada. He does general consulting, delivers babies, gives anaesthetics and has a special interest in dermatology. He has been practicing in this practice for 20+ years.
Justin’s interests include farming and caring for and treeing our environment.

MB, ChB. DRCOG, FACRRM Born and trained in Scotland. He does general consulting, acupuncture, gives anaesthetics and delivers babies. He has been with this practice for 12 years.
George is passionate about machinery and his leisure is spent working his farm.

MB, BS, BA, Dip RACOG, FACRRM, ICLC Born in Ararat and trained in Melbourne . Tim practiced in Leongatha for 12 years prior to joining us here in Colac. He does general consulting, minor surgery, gives anaesthetics, delivers babies and has been a certified lactation consultant.
Tim’s other interests include cycling, winemaking and bushwalking.

Mira gained her midical degree in Albania in 1983 and has lived and worked in Australia since 1998. She has worked at South West Healthcare in Warrnambool and at the Western General Hospital in Melbourne.

Romulo has been working in Colac since May 2007. He has a Bachelor Degree of Medicine and a Bachelor Degree of Science from the university of Santo Tomas, Manila – Philippines.
Romulo does general consulting, performs stress tests and has a special interest in palliative care medicine. |

Noor gained her medical degree at the Dhaka Medical College in Bangladesh. She spent 4 years at Barwon Health Geelong before coming to Colac in 2009.
Noor has successfully completed her Diploma of Obstetrics while she has been working in Colac. She enjoys general consulting, minor surgery and delivers babies.

Sharon studied medicine in the Phillipines graduating in the year 2000. She started medicine in Australia in Bendigo in 2005 and she has successfully completed an advanced diploma in obstetrics and gynaecology.
Sharon enjoys general practice consulting, minor surgery and delivering babies. She is also able to perform caesarean sections when required.

The Colac Hospital: Known as Colac Area Health: In 2002 the government put 13 million dollars into the redevelopment of the acute and primary care buildings and the hospital is hopeful of another 12 million to upgrade the nursing homes in 2005. Currently there are 50 acute beds, 2 operating theatres and 78 nursing home beds. The hospital caters for acute medical and surgical care including obstetric patients. There is a good working relationship between Colac Area Health and the Doctors in our community. All Doctors in our practice have admitting rights at Colac Area Health. |
